ELECTIONS, LAND USE, AND GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS COMMITTEE
Present: Co-Chair Dossie Overfield, Mark Newcomb, Ed Wagoner, Scott Mangold.
Guests – Luke Esch, DEQ, Brian Woody – Union Wireless, Greg Worthen & Stacie McDonald –Visionary Broadband, Gwynn Bartlett – Carbon County Clerk, Cindy Lane, Sweetwater County Clerk, Leslie George – Cowboy Skills, Mike Mores & Jarad Falk – Charter Communications, Commissioner Lauren Schoenfeld – Wyoming Broadband and NACO Broadband committee, and State Secretary Ed Buchanan , along with some of his staff, via phone.
Co-Chairman Overfield called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the September 4, 2020 virtual meeting were approved.
Luke Esch, Director of Industrial Siting for the Wyoming DEQ gave a brief description of the Industrial Siting Commission. He stated they are in the process of developing new rules and requested Counties provide input when the draft rules are presented, hopefully in June 2021.
State Secretary Buchanan and his staff reviewed the new election law changes. Secretary Buchanan reviewed the issues he has with Federal H.R. 1 and requested the WCCA provide a letter or resolution against the bill.
Commissioner Lauren Schoenfeld gave an update on broadband in Wyoming. All of the broadband vendors in attendance gave a brief overview of their work in Wyoming.
Jerimiah gave a brief update on the following interim topics: Redistricting, Elections, Special Districts, Public Works contracting, reforming Wyoming’s courts, and Search & Rescue costs.
With no further business Chairman Overfield adjourned the meeting.
